"The Throop Loop"
In the Header above you can see Hurn Court Lane leading off. If you take this and walk clockwise around on to footpaths you come across the Stour River and Throop Mill with its Weir. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and an easy walk without any hills! Right at our doorstep.
Extraordinary to most that this beauty is so close to Bournemouth and the Airport but you would not know.

"The Pete Gilbert Gourmet Art Workshop"
The first Art Workshop at the begining of April was an outstanding success with both advanced and novice artists achieving much more than they could believe. Here is how Pete Gilbert summed it up:
"I just wanted to say that I thought yesterday and the day before went so well
Everyone, I think got some good art done and of course the food was wonderful
So a thanks from me for making it an easy and very pleasant day."
And this is from a novice - last time he had ever put a brush to paper was at school some 50 years ago!!!:

Needless to say but John is now constructing an Art Studio!
The Next Workshop is:
June 13th-14th 2012 for 2 days

Welcome to Heronshaw House at Hurn an Hotel offering superior accommodation and great local food - ideal for a family celebration, a house party with friends, or just a pampered, relaxing weekend break in traditional farmland and therefore quiet, but surprisingly very close to all major transportation and Bournemouth Airport.
Heronshaw House at Hurn is a traditional 17th century stone-built farmhouse, with various brick modifications over the centuries, on the edges of the New Forest.
Bournemouth centre is just 10 or 12 minutes away with its wonderful beaches and lovely town centre. The Purbecks are just over the chain ferry at Sandbanks at the head of Poole Harbour another 10 minutes away.
This is the Jurassic Coast.
For the Olympics 2012 the Sailing venue is at Weymouth - Bournemouth Airport is the closest airport to the Olympic 2012 Venue and Heronshaw House is the closest accommodation to Bournemouth airport.
We have an up to date news feed about the Olympics 2012 here on our Olympics 2012 page.
On Mid Summers Day 2011 we launched the Heronshaw House Diners Club. You can read the newsletter :

My partner and I stayed here for one night as a birthday treat with acitivites planned for the next day.
This place is a must for anyone looking for a relaxing and quiet get away. A beautiful house in beautiful surroundings. It's a lovely place to be on a warm summer night, with a bottle of wine out on the patio.
We felt very spoilt with the food we had, and I know that it wouldn't be to everyone's taste but the hosts really fussed over us which was perfect as this was a treat! We felt as though the whole place was ours, and they simply couldn't do enough for us.
This is a great place for a foodie to go, each course was explained in the way that ony someone who has a real passion for food can. Presumably they were in the restaurant business previously.
I have to mention the bathroom also - I believe they must have recently had a refurb when we stayed because out bathroom was just stunning. A massive open shower that could have fit about 8 people in it.
I can't think of a negative for this place really other than if you are looking for the typical hotel then this isn't it - we didn't have a tv in our room (we wouldn't have wanted one anyway) but depending on what your looking for the lack of television may not suit you.
It is near the airport - but this didn't effect us.
We received an email today 13th Feb 2012 re our Valentines Menu:
Good morning to you both,
Thank you for the delightful dinner you provided for us we enjoyed it on Saturday night as we are out with friends on the day.
Thanks again it was wonderful.
We received an email 26th Jan 2012 re our Lazy Gourmet Hampers supplied at the beginning of Dec 2011:
Hi S.....
Their web site is www.heronshawhouse.com but this does not show hampers as everything is made to order.

Subject: P.... Competition
Hi J....
We've just been discussing prizes for the P.... competition launching next week and have come up with the idea to have a "luxury breakfast hamper" as 3rd prize.
We understand that you know someone who makes good quality hampers (Adam was singing the praises of the one he received!). Would you mind forwarding us some contact details/website address, so that we can investigate further?
Kind Regards
S....
We received an email 14th Jan 2012:
"My husband and I enjoyed a brief but wonderful visit to Heronshaw House in June last year. We would now like to investigate the possibility of organising a house party with you, some time in early 2013. We are part of a group of four couples who have celebrated our birthdays together for thirty years. In 2013 we will be celebrating four 60ths and one 70th birthday so we want to do something really special...like staying at Heronshaw House! We would require a 2 night stay for eight people either in the February half term or Easter school holiday period. Unfortunately, our youngest member is a teacher and will be the only one of us still working then...shame! I know the requested periods are beyond your present booking dates but, at this stage, all I really need to know is whether you think you will be able to accommodate us and a 'ball park' price per couple so that we can ensure that our budgets can stand it!"
What can we say!...Thank you
